Seen here searching for
insects amongst the fallen fruit of the Black Palm The Willy Wagtail is
found throughout Australia including the northern part of Tasmania and
is undoubtedly one of our best known and loved species of bird.
Often seen along country
roadways and fields perched on fence posts and stumps. Although highly
acrobatic in flight they also hop on the ground in search for insects
while constantly swaying their bodies from side to side and wagging
their tails.
Nest is a small cup of
grasses which are tightly bound with cobwebs and is built by the male
and female. The male also helps with the incubating of the eggs and the
feeding of the young.
