Whistling
Kite
Haliastur
sphenurus

Often referred to
as being a dingy looking kite the Whistling Kite is actually a
handsome raptor with a very loud and
distinctive call. It is found almost throughout Australia. Although predominately
a scavenger often seen feeding on road kill they do feed their young on the nestlings of other species, often
the young of Rainbow Lorikeets.
