Satin Bowerbird
(male)
Ptilinorhynchus violaceus

Blue is the colour of preference for the male
Satin Bowerbird. Like all of the Bowerbirds he builds a display bower for the
seduction of the female. He collects a variety of natural and man made ornaments
which he uses to decorate his bower. This is the
Ptilinorhynchus v.violaceus which is found in the south from the Bunya
Mountains to the Otway Ranges in Victoria where they occur at sea level.
