Called the Devil-Devil bird by Aboriginal
people the Noisy Pitta is believed to steal their children by luring them into
the rainforest with its jewel like plumage and piercing "walk to
work" call. The Noisy Pitta has a fondness for eating snails and uses
a convenient rock in the rainforest as an anvil for smashing the snail shells.
The Noisy is the largest of the three species found in Australia.

17-19 Centimetres.
