Nankeen Night Heron
Nycticorax caledonicus

Also known as the Rufous Night Heron the Nankeen Night Heron is widespread and found almost throughout Australia. Males collect nesting material and the female builds the flimsy nest of twigs. Both sexes feed the single young. Unfortunately about 85% of them are carriers of the Murray Valley Encephalitis.
