Lace Monitor
Varanus varius

The Lace Monitor can grow quite
large up to 1.4 meters. They are nest raiders of birds and on occasion will eat
carrion. This handsome specimen is a resident of Thylogale Nature Refuge and is
seen here sunning himself on our driveway.
