Green Whizzer Cicada
 Macrotristria intersecta

Although generally found in open eucalypt forest the Green Whizzer Cicada can sometimes be found along rainforest edges. It is found from Cape York Peninsula south to about Gladstone.

A characteristic sound of summer is the male song of a fluctuating hiss-like buzz.

 Length: 45-50 mm.
