Grey
Goshawk
Accipiter novaehollandiae

Grey Goshawk
eating a Grassland Melomys (Melomys burtoni).
Often referred to as
the 'Chicken Hawk' (for it's fondness for domestic chicken as easy food)
this magnificent bird of prey is often shot by unthinking keepers of
domestic poultry. At Thylogale they prey on small mammals and birds and
often take the emerging pouch young of the Red-legged pademelons. A
small but very powerful hawk.
Length: 340-540mm.
