Black Bean inflorescence, Castanospermum australe

Castanospermum australe - Black Bean as it is commonly called was used extensively as a cabinet timber. The flowers are relished by a variety of birds. The seeds in the large pods are toxic to humans. A difficult timber to work with as the dust from sanding etc. is highly irritant to the eyes and nasal passages.
